So You Don't Want to Go Pro - Top Ten Photography Tips - One By One

Okay, so your passion does not reside in the profession of photography, but you sure do love your camera - and your subjects.  Well, here you go!

Each pro has their list of top ten and here is mine!  I'll walk you through one by one.  Are you ready?  Today's tip is:

Move your subject away from the center of the picture!  It's really that simple.  Now there is the Rule of Thirds that you can apply to your image.  What that means is this - if you put a tic tac toe board on your view finder (#) you will aim to place your subjects where the lines intersect - avoid the center at all cost. You can also place your subject on either of the vertical or horizontal lines.  You will see how these lines divide the screen into thirds.

Well, that's all well and good, but I also follow the rule of break the rule.  So take your subject and cut it off and put it fully in a corner or on one side.  You don't have to have your whole subject in the picture.

Let the flower fall off the frame
Smack Dab in the center
Pull it to the bottom corner - more impact, yes!
Yummy, but boring
Now I want to eat it!

So give it a go!  Let me know how you do!
